Hello, my name's Leah and I believe that you should do yoga. And if you don't want to DO yoga, you should at least TRY yoga... 4 times consistently to be exact.

Why 4 times?

Because yoga is incredibly hard. After your first class and once the pain sets in, you're going to say, "yoga's not for me." The thing is, everyone hurts the first time, feels awkward, doesn't understand the fancy language, and has to look at others to figure out what the heck you should be doing. I've been doing yoga consistently for months now and I STILL feel like that.

Here's the number one thought to follow that'll get you through and onto finding the "yoga bliss feeling" (unlike a runner's high which is a total myth):

Nobody's looking at you. Nobody cares about how "good" you are at yoga. Nobody masters yoga or is better than the person next to them. Our bodies are beautifully different and that's ok!

Looking for your yogi home

It's no secret that yoga is stupid expensive. And if you're going to a gym as well, it can really add up. This is why I suggest buying all of the Groupon's you can and taking advantage of "first class free" opportunities. A lot of studios also offer a free class on Sunday. There's no shame in pimping yourself out to different studios in order to find what works best for you.

And let's be honest, you already know you can do yoga anywhere, even your house, but I truly believe finding the place that connects with your soul is really important. A studio is more than a physical space, it's a spiritual space. You're connected with the instructors, the students practicing next to you and the mindset your studio is installing. That's what's going to keep you coming back vs. YouTubing random people at your house.

Mi yogi case es su yogi casa

I found this when I started attending Citizen Yoga.

Why did I connect with Citizen?

It didn't happen for me at first. There are so many people there. Like, SO many. For the popular timed classes, your mat is about an inch away from others. I mentally couldn't get over it (ironically, a huge teaching in yoga, to learn how to deal with being uncomfortable). Not to mention I was sweating more than I thought possible. But I kept coming back. Over and over again. Obviously something in me was connecting with their teachings and I couldn't ignore the pull.

The owner, Kacee Must, has stacked her team full of young, open hearted and enthusiastic instructors. And to top it off, they're all widely different.

Want to get your butt kicked? Everyone know's you go to Paul's class.

Looking to go to yoga church? See you at Todd's Sunday AM class.

Need some inner perspective? Kacee or Sitara's class will rock your world.

Want to go abroad and do yoga? Be a teacher? Yeah, they do that too.

The list go's on and on. It's just nice to know that you're going somewhere where they're taking your life into consideration as they form their classes.

I'm not saying you HAVE to come to Citizen Yoga. Heck, you may not even live in MI. But the kind of experience I'm having and the amazing energy I'm experiencing is absolutely out there and waiting for you to be a part of it. So get out there. Be uncomfortable. Push yourself. Amaze yourself.

And if you DO want to come, let me know and I'll join you! Citizen let's you come to your first class for free and offers the free class on Sunday! Wooo!
